Island of dreams: What Mauritius has to offer

Mauritius is synonymous with turquoise lagoons, white sand beaches and palm groves, but it is also a land of cultural fusion and incredible natural diversity. This island is not only about relaxation, but also offers a wide range of activities for adventurers and sports enthusiasts. From diving and water sports to golf on world-class courses, there is something for everyone.

In the evenings, the island transforms into a culinary paradise, where the combination of all the world's cuisines creates unforgettable taste experiences. Mauritius, where more than two-thirds of the population is of Indian origin, is deeply influenced by Indian cuisine. You will find traditional dishes such as curries, biryani or dholl puri - the iconic flatbread stuffed with a spicy mixture.

Another significant influence comes from Japanese cuisine. Luxury hotels often feature Japanese restaurants, including Teppanyaki - a live cooking show where chefs prepare dishes right in front of the guests. This combination of tradition and visual spectacle turns every dinner into an extraordinary experience.

Thanks to its culinary diversity, Mauritius is a destination that satisfies even the most discerning gourmets.

Chosen for your unique experience

During our journey, we visited a total of 17 hotels, but we have selected the top 5 resorts that, in our opinion, are truly worth mentioning.

One&Only Le Saint Géran

This iconic resort on the east coast is one of the oldest hotels in Mauritius, though it became part of the One&Only family only in 2017. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the hotel staff in the majestic lobby, and the whole atmosphere is enhanced by the sound of the gong announcing the arrival of each new guest. The expansive garden full of tropical greenery, including thousands of coconut palms, and the white sandy beach provide you with complete privacy and tranquility. If you want to experience a bit of adrenaline, you can try jet skiing or other water sports. To relax your mind, visit the elegant spa infused with the fragrances of Guerlain cosmetics. For a gourmet experience, dine at Prime Restaurant, a restaurant specializing in exquisite steaks and seafood. The resort is perfect for couples and families with children and is an ideal choice for those seeking ultimate comfort and exclusive experiences.

Shangri-La Le Touessrok

At Shangri-La, we were particularly impressed by the spacious villa with beautiful views of the ocean. The resort also offers classic rooms and suites, but if you're traveling with family and kids, we recommend choosing a villa. The villa offers two master bedrooms, each with their own huge bathroom and outdoor shower, and one bedroom with two queen beds, perfect for children. Throughout your stay, you’ll be cared for by a dedicated butler, always available when needed yet discreetly in the background.

Shangri-La truly focuses on every detail, ensuring even the little ones are pampered with children’s bathrobes and the warm hospitality of the staff.

A unique highlight is the resort’s private catamaran, available for romantic evening cruises. Guests can use the boat to explore private islands with pristine beaches, adding to the exclusivity of the experience. The resort is also renowned for its exceptional wellness offerings and a variety of activities, ranging from water sports to golf.

LUX* Grand Baie

This modern design hotel in the Grand Baie area sets a new benchmark for luxury accommodation. The interiors, designed in a minimalist style with dark wood tones, emphasize elegance and comfort. One of the main attractions is the rooftop terrace with infinity pool and bar, where you can relax with a cocktail in hand while admiring the turquoise ocean.

The expansive LUX* Me Spa offers a unique hydrotherapy experience inspired by the four seasons and its exclusive collection of luxury skincare products, designed to provide ultimate care for both body and mind.

LUX Grand Baie* represents the perfect fusion of modern design, enriching experiences, and exceptional services in Mauritius, making it an excellent choice for the young and vibrant seeking something lively and exciting.

Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa

If you want absolute privacy, Maradiva is the perfect choice. At Maradiva you will find only spacious villas with private pool and garden, designed in colonial style with earthy tones and natural wood, exuding natural elegance.

The resort is known for its authentic Ayurvedic treatments. Each guest enjoys a complimentary consultation with a specialist who conducts a detailed body analysis and recommends tailored care for your individual needs.

For food lovers, the teppanyaki restaurant offers an unforgettable experience, where chefs perform a fiery culinary show right before your eyes, preparing food tailored to your tastes.

If you want to explore the island, you can explore it in style! Maradiva offers exclusive island tours in a Rolls-Royce, complete with a luxurious picnic. Discover the island from the comfort of leather seats, stop at pristine white sand beaches, and open a Rolls-Royce picnic basket, crafted from the finest teak wood and saddle leather, filled with rich flavors to enhance your journey.

Constance Prince Maurice

This romantic resort on the northeast coast of the island will enchant you with its sophistication and tranquility. Known as the quieter of the two Constance resorts on the island, it is the perfect choice for those seeking uninterrupted relaxation.

The floating lagoon restaurant provides a unique dining experience where you can enjoy world-class cuisine in close proximity to nature. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate that the resort offers green fees to two prestigious golf courses within easy reach as part of your stay. Lovers of relaxation will be delighted by the spa, which guarantees a feeling of perfect harmony and care.

The resort combines elegance, luxury and tranquility in an environment that will fill you with new energy and unforgettable experiences.

When is the Best Time to Visit Mauritius?

If you are planning your trip to Mauritius, we recommend the period from May to December. During this period, the weather is pleasant, with temperatures between 20 and 28°C, and the island offers ideal conditions for relaxing on the beach and exploring its beauty. From January to April comes the rainy season, which brings with it higher humidity and occasional tropical showers, but this can still be a good time for those looking for a quieter atmosphere and fewer tourists.

Whenever you decide to visit Mauritius, you can count on this island to immerse you in its beauty, hospitality and unique experiences.
