Following the underwater giants and island icons of Cebu and Bohol

At the end of March, we accompanied our clients to the Philippines, exploring the captivating islands of Cebu and Bohol.

The journey began in the Moalboal region, home to one of Cebu’s most remarkable natural spectacles – the sardine run. We swam among vast, shimmering schools of sardines and sea turtles gliding just a few metres from the shore, finding ourselves immersed in the very heart of the underwater world. Beyond the coast, we explored the surroundings by scooter, allowing us to experience the rhythm of local life and the authentic atmosphere beyond the main tourist routes.

The programme also included a peaceful cruise along the Bojo River, following its course all the way to where it meets the sea. Local fishermen shared insights into their everyday lives and introduced us to the different species of mangroves that shape this unique ecosystem.

The next part of the journey took us to the Oslob area, where we enjoyed the unforgettable experience of snorkelling alongside whale sharks. For many, this became the defining moment of the entire trip. Nearby, we also visited Tumalog Falls, whose delicate cascades offered a welcome moment of calm and a refreshing change of scenery.

On Bohol, a different yet equally enchanting atmosphere awaited us. We discovered the iconic Chocolate Hills, explored the landscape beneath them by ATV, and enjoyed a scenic cruise along the Loboc River. Each stop along the way also brought the opportunity to savour local specialities and discover the island through its flavours.

The final chapter of the journey belonged to the sea and the surrounding islands. Island hopping between Nalusuan and Pandanon delivered the essence of the Philippines – crystal-clear waters, powder-white sand, and coral reefs teeming with life.
